Departure from hotel at 13:30 for a transfer to the airport.

From the arrival in the airport, we are taken care of by the staff of the Uacari pousada.
We take-off on a motorised boat towards the heart of the Mamiraua ecological reserve.
This reserve was created in 1990 and is home to over 400 different species of birds, and another 45 different species of mammals. During our boat trip (1h30) we will very probably have the chance to catch a glimpse of some specimens of the local flora.
The lodge rests on water, we are received with a welcome drink followed by short manual of use ( meal times, water and energy management, instructions for bathing...) We then check-in to our respective lodges.

Note: If arrival at Tefe is delayed, we will spend the night in Tefé. This has no extra costs.

After breakfast,together with our local bilingual guides, we depart for our first canoeing trip along the canals and surrounding lakes. We return to the lodge for lunch, followed by the compulsory "siesta". The more active ones can assist a video-projection about the projects being developped inside the reserve, or can go fishing for piranhas.
When the sun is no longer as strong, it is time to take off on our motor-boat towards Araçazinho, a superb lake where we will have the chance to assist the ballet of the bird colonies returning to their nests after sunset.
Return to the lodge at night time, where only the light of of our flashlight will allow us to observe the night -life.

Note: During the rainy season (May until July), the excursions around the lodge will be made by canoes. The rest of the year, they are made on foot along the trails (about 3 kms).

Departure at sunrise with our local guide. Hike along the trails in the surrounding forest of the lodge. We progress slowly and silently,attentive to the sounds of the awakening forest. Return to the lodge towards the end of the morning.
When the sun has gone down, we take off again for Lake Mamirua in the search of "botos", river-water dolphins, characterized by their pink skin and their long faces.
In the crepuscule we hear thousands of rustles coming from the animals reaching the borders of the lake to drink. Return to the lodge for supper.
After supper, the guides like to hang around with the visitors for some relaxed conversations.

A last excursion is scheduled programmed in the morning. After lunch, transfer to Tefé airport.
